Located on Cockatoo island in the middle of Sydney harbour, Cocktail Island is the world first festival dedicated to cocktails, fine spirits and bar culture. Being a brand new festival with no photographs, and a strong resistance to use stock imagery we starting with a clean slate for design. Our solution was to develop a series of custom illustrations to help build a base of visuals. It was very important that the aesthetic style helped shape the festivals fun quirky vibe. Although laborious we chose to hand write much of the collateral, it added a more hands on feel and helped to bind the aesthetic we had set with the initial illustrations.
